Family origins A study of pre-historic skulls suggests our family are descendents of a Cro-magnon branch of homo-sapiens who reverted back to mating with Nearderthals, as the photo at left confirms. I have very few photos of my grandparents, but my mother's side were northern, light-skinned Italians with blue eyes and light hair (lower left) who settled in Grumo Appula near Bari, Italy. I am sure I inherited my nose from my mother's father. My fathers' side (parents below) were from the town of Carini, outside of Palermo, Sicily. Records show Vincenzo Migliore arrived in New York on the good ship Liguria, out of Naples, on April 3, 1905. He was 18 years old.
